And here we go!
First full day in the parks today, and we started at Walt Disney Studios Park, which is similar to Hollywood Studios, if you’re used to the Florida parks. Before that, though, we stopped at Earl of Sandwich in Disney Village for breakfast. Seriously, why have we not tried this place in Florida?!
First place we headed for was Avengers Campus, since they don’t have that in Florida. Didn’t do any rides there, in preference for just wandering and enjoying the atmosphere, but we did see both Spiderman and Iron Man on their respective balconies, then Iron Man and Black Panther just wandering about.
From there, we wandered past the Toy Story area, and down to Remy’s area, where we rode Ratatouille Adventure. A word here about the accessibility system here. When you apply for the pass, you detail what kind of accommodations you require – in Chris’s case, it’s wheelchair access. This has meant that we’ve skipped the detailed queues so far and gone down an accessible path instead. It also meant that for Ratatouille, we rode in an adapted where he could ride straight in, and the chair was secured. It’s also a trackless ride, which means they can pull cars in and out of the flow as required.
We then wandered across to the main Disneyland Park – keen to see it in the daylight, after wandering in the dark last night! We maintained our lucky streak of wandering round corners just in time to see parades as well!
The castle there is more detailed than the Florida one, and includes a dragon’s lair in the basement, which was fun to explore. Past the castle, we headed for Adventureland, and wandered through to Frontierland, where we rode the riverboat. We’ve still got Fantasyland and Discoveryworld to explore, so that’s on the agenda for tomorrow.
Since yesterday was a long day, we left the parks late afternoon, and headed to Five Guys for lunch – some things you just gotta do! Once we got back to the hotel, we chilled in the Bleeker Street Lounge with a cocktail, before heading up to the room to relax for a bit.
We finished the evening with a wander round Disney Village, planning out purchases for later in the week! One good thing about having driven here is that there’s a lot of more fragile souvenirs that we’ve resisted in Florida, since we were unsure if they would survive the flight home, that we can grab the equivalent ones here!
We’re hoping to make Extra Magic Hours tomorrow, but other than that the only thing planned is the Avengers Drone show in the evening.
