The best laid plans…

What can I say – if you’ve learned anything from this blog, it’s that we plan out travel days very carefully. And this time was no exception.

We were booked on a 7:15 shuttle, we would be in France before 9am and Efteling by lunchtime.

The first sign that something was wrong was the automatic check in terminals were manned. By someone who told us we were leaving at 7:45. Then it just kept getting pushed back and pushed back, eventually leaving just after 9am UK time, so it was approaching 11am European time by the time we arrived. And don’t let me forget the weather. Raining with a lot of spray, which meant by the time we got to Efteling, it was nearly 3pm!

After that, though, things looked up. We were able to get into our room a little early, and what a room it is! The hotel we’re staying at, Efteling Bosrijk, has a lot of chalets, but less that 30 rooms in the main building. We’re on the top floor, one of only four rooms here!

Park hours are limited at this time of year, so we headed straight over to make the most of what we had – late lunch at Frau Bollers of chicken wings, followed by the newest ride, Danse Macabre. Like some of the other rides, Chris can’t access it, but they have alternative options – in this case he was able to watch an in-ride video, while I was on the actual ride. Cross the Haunted Mansion with the waltzers, and add in a dash of Tower of Terror and you’re about half way there. I’m sure I’ll be on it again before we leave!

We caught the new watershow as we were leaving. We saw the summer Aquanura when we were over in May, but the winter one, with the lights in the dark is just something else!

Lazy evening, unpacking and settling in. No photos, as I was too unorganised, but they’ll follow tomorrow!
