Out and about

Early entry today took us into the Fairytale Forest. There’s an exclusive entrance for hotel guests that takes you straight out at the newest fairy tale, the Princess and the Pea – it opened I think the last day of our trip in May, so this was the first chance we had to see it.

There was something lovely about wandering around and seeing almost no-one!

Most of the morning was spent meandering about and people watching, although I may have snuck in another ride on Danse Macabre. What?!

After lunch we headed out for a drive round the general area, just for a look-see. Some of the house styles here are very different, but very lovely. We also explored a little bit round Kaatsheuvel, which is the nearest town to Efteling.

Heading back to the hotel we had coffee then heading back into the park with the aim of trying the burger stall near the Flying Dutchman – and I’m happy to report it was worth it! We also found one of my favourite snacks, which has been moved from near Max and Moritz to further into the park – essentially a spiral cut potato on a skewer, deep fried – one big long crisp! Caught Aquanura from the ground level view as well, instead of the room!

Tomorrow is the last full day, and we’ve got a few more rides we want to do, along with Pinokkio’s restaurant and the Caro theatre show booked. Going to be a busy one!
