Mamma Mia! Here we go again!
The trip has started, although we’re not quite at Disneyland Paris, yet!
The plan was always to drive to Folkstone, stay over and get an early train on the Eurotunnel the next morning. However about 6 months ago, we decided that since we’d be passing London on the way down anyway, why not stop off and see the ABBA Voyage show on the way. So, we did!
The show is totally amazing; if you get a chance to go see it, I would urge you to do so. The idea is you’re watching 4 digital avatars, showing ABBA in their prime, perform hits across their career, including a couple of recently recorded ones. Despite knowing that these weren’t “real”, it looked it! I really felt like I could have walked on stage and touched them, it’s so well done. There was a touch of uncanny valley in the larger images on the screens, but not enough to disrupt the show. The was more noticable on the ladies than the gents, however I remember hearing stuff from behind the scenes on the She Hulk series, talking about the differences between the Hulk effects on Jen v Bruce, and it seems aligned with that, and to do with the expected smoothness of male v female skin. Interestingly, ILM – Industrial Light and Magic – were heavily involved in the ABBA show, as well as Marvel movies.
Today is a lazy-ish day, drive down to the coast and have a very early night. Our train is at 7:30, check is starts 2 hours before, so we need to be up stupidly early to get there! ETA at Disneyland Paris is lunchtime Monday.
