Surprise visit

Summer is my busy time at work, so I booked a week off in September to relax. And we were discussing what we could do, day trip here or there.

Then I heard the infamous tap-tap-tap of Chris on his computer with an idea.

So, long story short, we booked Efteling with maybe six weeks’ notice!

We arrived this afternoon, staying at Bosrijk until Friday. Last few times we’ve been here, we’ve been in the same room on the fourth floor. This time, we’re on the second floor. And the room is a complete mirror image of what we’re used to! Alice through the looking glass, or something!

Had our normal arrival day lunch at Frau Boltes, rode Symbolica and just wandered, enjoying the atmosphere. Absolutely gutted, though, Danse Macabre was closed! Now, there’s a story there. We booked the trip, then the closures were updated to say it would be closed for maintenance this week. Not happy, but we’re back in November and again for Christmas, so, it is what it is. Then they changed the dates! It is – or should be – open this week. Hopefully be open tomorrow for ALL the rides!

All in all, we’ve got a pretty chill week planned, at least.
