Lazy Day

After yesterday’s can he can’t he about rides, we decided on a lazy non-park day today, and took a drive to Gouda, which is about an hour north of here. We missed the cheese market by a day – although current restrictions mean we couldn’t have brought any back to the UK anyway, but we had fun at the Gouda Experience centre, where the guide we spoke to was as obsessed with UK food as we are with Dutch food.

It’s a very pretty and pleasant place to visit, so we might need to time it better on a future trip.

Came back to the hotel, to the good news that yes, Chris *can* ride the rides we expected, his facilities pass takes priority. So we’ll be back on rides tomorrow. Not a fun experience, but at least we have a definitive answer now, and honestly, the amount of walking I’ve done so far, I feel better for a down day.

We did wander over to the park to catch Aquanura, which is the water fountain display – I think we’ve seen a different version each trip, but it’s always stunning.

We found a quiet spot round near Fata Morgana. When I realised which direction the wind was blowing – we started getting a few drops of water splashed from the fountains, I mentioned to Chris that it might be an issue. “It’ll be fine,” he replied.

Dear reader, let me tell you, I’ve come off water rides drier that we were by the time the show finished. However, it was warm enough that it was quite refreshing.

Last full park day tomorrow, and we have tickets for Caro, the theatre show, tomorrow night. Then time to pack for home already.
